Permit tracking, by text
Permits expire mid-project. Inspections get scheduled wrong. The AHJ contact rotates and nobody updates the file. Forward indexes the permit + AHJ-contact data on connect and answers status queries instantly.
The permit-tracking failure mode
Most commercial projects pull 8-15 permits across the lifecycle. Each has its own:
- Issue date + expiration window (usually 6-12 months).
- Required inspections at specific milestones.
- AHJ contact who needs to be scheduled in advance.
- Conditions that need to be met before final inspection.
Most failures are paperwork: permit expires, no one renewed, inspector won’t show. Forward keeps the data queryable in real time.
What Forward indexes
- Active permits from Procore Documents or OneDrive permit folder
- Permit-pull dates, expiration dates, conditions
- AHJ contact (name + phone + email)
- Linked inspection requirements per permit
- Past inspection results (pass / fail / re-inspect)
Useful query shapes
- “Open permits on tower B”
- “Permits expiring in the next 30 days”
- “Which permit covers the elevator install?”
- “AHJ contact for the mechanical rough-in inspection”
- “Conditions still open on the building permit”
How to try it
