The pre-walk scramble

Owner walkthroughs run the same shape on every project. The PM:

• Pulls the schedule + identifies what shifted since last visit.
• Reviews the daily logs for safety + production highlights.
• Lists open RFIs needing owner-side input (substitutions, design changes).
• Updates the change-order log for items the owner needs to acknowledge.
• Drafts a brief PowerPoint or 1-pager.

On a project with 4 active phases, this is 45-90 minutes of prep. Across 4-6 owner walkthroughs per month per PM, it’s 3-9 hours of senior-PM time burned on meeting-prep alone.
