Cost code lookup, by text
Cost-code structures vary project to project, GC to GC. The PM who switched companies last quarter doesn't remember if cast-in-place concrete is 03-300 or 03-310 here. Forward returns the cost-code + budget snapshot from this project's Procore configuration.
Cost codes are project-specific configuration
Procore lets every project set its own cost-code structure. Some GCs use the CSI 6-digit master format; some use abbreviated 4-digit forms; many use company-specific overlay codes appended to CSI. Each project ships with its own.
The PM mid-week needs to file a change-order against the right cost code; the super needs to log a deficiency against the right line item. Searching the Procore cost-code list in the UI is fast on a laptop and slow on a phone.
What Forward does for cost-code lookups
Forward indexes the project’s cost-code structure on OAuth connect. The PM texts the question; Forward fuzzy-matches and returns the cost code + a budget-vs-actual snapshot if available:
You: cost code for cast-in-place concrete Forward: 03-300 — Cast-in-Place Concrete Budget: $1,840,000 Committed: $1,720,000 (93.5%) Actuals: $1,612,000 (87.6%) Variance: +$108,000 favorable Sub-codes: 03-310 Formwork (budget $620k) 03-320 Reinforcement (budget $480k) 03-330 Concrete placement (budget $740k) procore.com/projects/.../cost_codes/...
Useful query shapes
- By trade name (“cast-in-place concrete”, “mechanical rough-in”)
- By CSI division (“everything under division 09”)
- By spend status (“cost codes over 90% committed”)
- By sub assignment (“cost codes assigned to Glen Mechanical”)
How to try it
Drop your email above for an early-access conversation. The Procore OAuth connection includes cost-code data ingestion out of the box.
