Count wood or metal wall studs at 16″ or 24″ on-center spacing. Adds corner studs and a 15% adjustment for openings + bracing.

Base count: floor(length ÷ spacing) + 1. Adjustment covers jacks + kings at openings, corner studs, partition tees, and wind-bracing additions. 15% is a reasonable default; bump higher for opening-heavy walls.
