Pricing comparison
Forward vs adding Procore seats
Forward’s pricing is per phone-line, not per user-seat. On a project with 30 tradespeople, that’s a meaningful delta vs the seat-based alternative. Here’s the math.
The scenario
One active commercial-construction project. 30 trades- people across 8 subs who would benefit from read-only-style access to project data (drawings, RFIs, submittal status, change orders). The GC has Procore on the office side already.
Option A — add Procore field-user seats
- Procore field-user seats are typically billed against the project subscription. Pricing isn’t public; public estimates and customer reports suggest $20-50/seat/month at typical commercial-GC tiers.
- 30 seats × ~$35/month = $1,050/month per project — $12,600/year if the project runs a full year.
- Permission management: ~10-15 minutes per seat to configure on the admin side. With 30 seats and 30-50% annual rotation, that’s 20-30 hours/year of admin time.
- Adoption: industry data + operator interviews suggest 20-35% of field-user seats see weekly use. The remaining 65-80% pay full price for near-zero usage.
Option B — Forward (per phone line)
- $100/month per active line. Dedicated project line at +$120/month (SendBlue passthrough). One project, one line = $100-220/month.
- Unlimited field users on the line. Adding the 31st foreman doesn’t cost anything extra.
- Permission management: 30-second invite per phone number. Rotation is just remove + re-add.
- Adoption: tradespeople text already. Activation isn’t a separate behavior to teach.
Annual cost compare (1 project, 30 field users)
| Option | Annual cost | Active seats with weekly use |
|---|---|---|
| Procore field-user seats | $12,600 | 6-10 (20-35%) |
| Forward + dedicated line | $2,640 | ~30 (text-native) |
~5x cost delta plus the adoption-rate delta on top. The usual response — “just give the field workers Procore access” — assumes adoption you almost never get. See /research/field-tech-adoption-2026 for the sourced adoption data.
